From the ISIS industry files, “Abu Hafs al-Isra’ili” is a good example

Sarahah News – Jordan

The war on the Gaza Strip opened the door to conversation about suspicious Israeli movements in the region, and stories of espionage linked to the Zionist entity, so social networking sites repeated the story of the “Israeli spy” in Libya, who penetrated society until he became the imam of one of the mosques there.

A stranger in Libya

After the events of 2011 in Libya, a man unknown to anyone entered Libya, to penetrate the fabric of society there and settle in the Benghazi region. His piety and Islam led him to the pulpit of one of the most important mosques in the region, Benghazi, and he became famous among the people as “Abu Hafs.”

The Libyans were deceived by the man coming to them from an unknown place after the overthrow of the rule of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. In the Benghazi region, he became famous and took advantage of the security disturbances and chaos that afflicted the country, because his peaceful Arabic language was able to capture the hearts of the good people there.

The stranger became a mufti

To the strange man, he showed signs of piety, as he had memorized the Book of God, and hundreds or thousands of prophetic hadiths that he would cite in his conversations with the public, in order to captivate their hearts before their minds and appoint him not only as imam and preacher of one of their most important mosques, but as mufti of the region as well.

Abu Hafs was a refuge for those searching for answers to their religious questions, and those who wanted a fatwa that would end the controversy of their life crises, so that the man would dazzle them with his knowledge and the sweetness of his tongue, so that he would be among them the faithful advisor who judged the truth according to the law of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad bin Abdullah.

Abu Hafs, leader of ISIS

Up to this point, Abu Hafs’ life was normal, but his “secret” mission led him to infiltrate among the armed jihadist groups there, and with the division, his work developed in a few months or years, to be alongside his fame as the imam and emir of an armed religious group.

The mysterious imam founded an armed group consisting of 200 fighters that was linked to ISIS there, and his fame spread outside the limited region to exceed the borders of the countries neighboring Libya, and his group’s operations moved abroad.

The “Abu Hafs Group” became famous at the time, becoming one of the most well-known terrorist groups there, and the bloodiest, to set out abroad to Egypt under the slogan “War on Egypt and its liberation,” attempting to exploit the vast deserts within the borders of the two brotherly countries.

The imam of the mosque is an Israeli officer

In July 2017, local and international media, including the Spanish newspaper El Pais, revealed that Libyan forces had arrested a mosque imam named “Abu Hafs” on charges of spying for a hostile entity, only to later discover an even greater disaster.

The newspaper revealed that the real charge goes beyond espionage, as the imam of the mosque called “Abu Hafs” is “Benjamin Ephraim,” an Israeli officer from the Musta’rab Division, a group of officers specialized in everything related to Arab countries and the various Arabic dialects, as well as religious sects in the Arab countries.

The officer’s squad works in direct coordination with the Israeli intelligence service “Mossad” in espionage, incitement to sedition and murder, and infiltration into Libya with ISIS militants, and settled in one of the areas of Benghazi in Libya that was under the control of militants.

Egypt reveals the spy

The newspaper stated that the investigations stated that “Abu Hafs” or “Benjamin” works in direct coordination with the Israeli Mossad, explaining that Egyptian intelligence had an effective and very important role in revealing the true identity of “Benjamin” and providing information about him to the Libyan authorities, and thus he was arrested.

During his arrest, the identity of the Libyan authorities who arrested him was not clear enough, but the news of his arrest, which was widely circulated by all local, regional and international news agencies, remained incomplete.

Secret fate

The Israeli spy went to an unknown fate, and the Libyan authorities, whether affiliated with the Libyan Presidential Council or the National Army, did not announce his arrest and investigation, or any details about the operation that has continued to occupy local and international public opinion until now.

Pictures of Abu Hafs spread in all media outlets, and social media sites from time to time, in search of known news, but the operation has remained secret and unknown until today, as no official statement, whether political or military, has been issued revealing the details of the operation, the investigations, and the fate of the Israeli officer now.
